The University of Maryland volleyball team fell 3-0 to Virginia Tech Saturday night in Blacksburg, Va. The Terps (17-10, 8-7 ACC) couldn't overcome their own mistakes against the Hokies (17-8, 8-7 ACC) as they made 15 service errors and recorded only four aces.
As a team, Maryland was narrowly outhit by Virginia Tech, .158 to .193, in a game that had a combined 34 team errors.
Junior Maddi Lee recorded a team-high 11 kills on a match-high.409 hitting for Maryland, which failed to capitalize on Friday night's 3-0 sweep at Virginia. Junior Lisa Scott continued her balance on both offense and defense as the Langley, Va. recorded nine kills to go along with five total blocks. Sophomore Remy McBain and Bethany Springer led the Terps with 30 assists and 17 digs, respectively.
For the Hokies, Justine Record brought in 12 of the team's 34 kills and Felicia Willoughby and Cara Baarendse each recorded seven. Erin Leaser dished out 30 assists for Virginia Tech, which is now tied with Maryland at 8-7 in the ACC.
The Terrapins will return home on Nov. 12 to take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons at 7 p.m. The following Sunday against the Duke Blue Devils, Maryland will host its annual Senior Day, honoring seniors Brittney Grove, Michelle Kenning, Marissa Odom and Bethany Springer.
