#22 Terps To Host Appalachian State Sunday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The 22nd-ranked Maryland women's basketball team will welcome Appalachian State to College Park Sunday. The Terrapins (6-1) and the Mountaineers (6-1) are set to tip off at 2 p.m. in Comcast Center.

The Terps will be hosting a school supply drive at Sunday's game. All school supplies donated will support Bookbags With the Basics' first annual Classroom for Christmas project. Bookbags With the Basics is a student-run organization that partners with like-minded organizations around the world to provide school supplies for needy children and raise awareness of the negative impact that poverty has on education. Through a Classroom for Christmas, BWB hopes to collect enough school supplies to fill backpacks for roughly 6100 children living in poverty-stricken areas in Uganda, South Africa, Nigeria, and Ghana. There will be bins located inside the main concourse at Comcast Center.

This will be the fourth all time meeting between the Terrapins and the Mountaineers. Maryland has won all three previous meetings, most recently 118-59 on Dec. 5, 2005 in College Park.

The Terrapins are coming off of a 56-55 win at Purdue in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge Thursday night. After trailing by 11 points with five minutes remaining, the Terrapins rallied for the win. Junior Lynetta Kizer led with 20 points, while sophomore Diandra Tchatchouang and freshman Alyssa Thomas each added 12.

After Sunday's game, Maryland will play at Loyola in Baltimore Tuesday night. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the Terrapin Sports Radio Network and can be heard on ESPN 1300 (Baltimore) and ESPN 980 (Washington).

  • Maryland fields one of the youngest rosters in the nation. The Terps are one of seven teams in the country to not have any seniors.
