
Terps Head to Wake Forest

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland will take to the road in the midst of the snowstorms to take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons Thursday, Feb. 11. Tip is slated for 7 p.m. ET.
The Terrapins (16-8 overall, 3-6 ACC) have won their last two contests on the road, defeating Atlantic Coast Conference member Virginia Tech, 60-44, and Longwood, 85-40. Maryland most recently fell to No. 24 Virginia, 82-68, at home but prior to the 14-point loss, the Terps' other conference losses were by a combined five points.
Freshman Tianna Hawkins recorded her fourth career double-double against Virginia with a team-high 18 points and 10 rebounds. She leads the team in rebounds, averaging 8.1 per game and continues to lead all ACC freshmen in rebounding. Sophomore Lynetta Kizer leads the Terps in scoring with 12.0 points per game. Freshman Diandra Tchatchouang leads all freshmen in the conference in scoring with 11.7 points per contest.
Head Coach Brenda Frese is one win away from her 250th career victory and eight wins away from her 200th as a Maryland Terrapin. Her career record stands at 249-98 and her record with the Terps is 192-68.
Maryland holds the advantage in the all-time series against Wake Forest, leading 49-12, including a 21-4 record in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Terrapins have won the last eight contests, not dropping a game since Feb. 13, 2003.
Wake Forest (14-9, 5-4) is coming off of an 83-38 loss to Florida State in Tallahassee, Fla. WF is undefeated, 4-0, at home in conference play. The Demon Deacons' roster boasts nine returning letterwinners including three starters from last year's squad. Brittany Waters leads the Deacs in points with 13.3 per contest. Secily Ray is also averaging double-figures with 10.3 points per game. Sandra Garcia leads in rebounds with 7.4 boards per game.
