
Terrapins Host Clemson in Pink Zone Game

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Terrapins are helping bring awareness to breast cancer by participating in the 2010 WBCA Pink Zone as they host Clemson on Sunday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. ET.
Maryland (17-8 overall, 4-6 ACC) is coming off of a 70-65 road win over Wake Forest. The Terps' 21 made free throws helped give them the edge as the Demon Deacons hit three-point shots. The win gave head coach Brenda Frese her 250th career victory. Frese is now seven wins away from her 200th as a Maryland Terrapin (193-68). She is on pace to hit the 200-plateau faster than any other coach in Maryland women's basketball history.
Freshman Diandra Tchatchouang led the Terps against Wake Forest with 17 points and nine rebounds. She added four blocks, two assists and a career-high tying two steals. Freshman Jackie Nared also had a big impact in the game as she scored 10 points, going 100 percent from the beyond the arc (3-for-3), and pulling down seven boards.
Sophomore Kim Rodgers was 4-for-4 from the free throw line extending her streak at the charity stripe to 24 consecutive made shots dating back to Nov. 29 against Drexel.
Sophomore Lynetta Kizer and Tchatchouang lead the Terps in scoring with 11.9 points per game. Maryland's freshmen continue to lead the conference in several areas. Tchatchouang leads all freshmen in the conference in scoring. Freshman Tianna Hawkins leads the team in rebounds, averaging 7.8 per game and continues to lead all ACC freshmen in rebounding. Freshman Dara Taylor is second overall in the ACC in assists, averaging 5.5 per game, totaling 137 this season. Taylor is fourth in the Maryland freshmen record books for career assists. She is just 20 away from the top spot.
Clemson (11-15, 2-8) is coming off of a 67-50 loss on the road to Florida State. The Tigers' two conference wins came over Boston College (68-65) and N.C. State (69-56). Lele Hardy leads the Tigers in points with 13.8 per game. She also leads in rebounds averaging 8.4 per contest. Hardy is second in the ACC in rebounding (8.2/game), defensive rebounds (5.2/game) and steals (3.5/game). Shaniqua Pauldo also registers double-fi gure points for Clemson with an 11.7 average.
Maryland has the lead in the all-time series with Clemson, 36-24. The Terps hold the advantage in College Park, 20-8. The last eight games have gone to the Terrapins.
