Maryland has taken down two strong Atlantic Coast Conference opponents in a row on the road and now they are taking their streak down to Durham, N.C., where they are set to face current conference leader No. 8/7 Duke. The Terrapins look for a rematch after a barely-there loss in January. Tip is slated for 1 p.m. ET and will be televised live regionally on NESN, Comcast Mid-Atlantic, FSN South and Fox Sports Florida.
The Terps have won by a combined 76 points in their last three road contests. Maryland most recently grabbed another conference victory against Clemson, 71-51, in College Park.
On Jan. 24 of this year the Terps battled the Blue Devils in front of a season-high 10,301 fans in Comcast. Despite Duke pulling ahead by 11 points, senior Lori Bjork hit a three-pointer with just under eight minutes remaining. She followed that up with another trey and the Terps went on a 14-2 run. The score tied and the lead changed five times in the course of 40 minutes, with the teams swapping leads on four occasions in just the second half.
Despite a last second three-pointer by sophomore Anjale Barrett, Duke won by one point, 58-57. The one-point margin of victory remains the closest the game the Blue Devils have played all season. A tenacious Maryland squad pushed Duke up and down the court, forcing them into 11 miscues and the Blue Devils' second-lowest performance from the field this season, 32.8 percent on 22-for-67 shooting. In the first half the Terrapin defense kept Duke to 28.1 percent shooting and no one scoring above six points.
Maryland and Duke tied in rebounding, each pulling down 42 boards.
The Terrapins holds on to the lead in the all-time series against Duke, 37-34 but the Blue Devils own the series in Cameron, 17-13. Maryland defeated Duke on their home turf last season on Feb. 22, 2009, 77-59.
Sophomore Lynetta Kizer is leading the Terps in points and rebounds, averaging 12.1 points 7.7 boards per game. Freshman Diandra Tchatchouang is on her heels with 12.0 points a game and leads all ACC freshmen in scoring. Freshman Tianna Hawkins is recording at least 7.6 boards per game and leads the conference freshmen in rebounds. Another Maryland freshman leading first year players is Dara Taylor who is second overall in assists with 142 and 5.5 per game.
Duke is led by Jasmine Thomas who is averaging 15.8 points, 4.3 assists and 2.7 steals per game. Thomas was the only Blue Devil to record more than nine points in the previous game against the Terrapins. Krystal Thomas is averaging 7.2 rebounds per game.
The Blue Devils play Georgia Tech Friday evening. Duke is currently on a three game winning streak taking wins over UNC, N.C. State and Virginia Tech. The only conference team that has defeated Duke is Boston College, a team the Terps took down 72-65 in January. The Blue Devils are currently 12-1 on their home court dropping their only game in Cameron to No. 1 Connecticut, 81-48.

Maryland returns home in a week when they host Florida State on Sunday, Feb. 28 at 3 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on ESPN2. The Terrapins will recognize seniors Emery Wallace and Lori Bjork in the last home game of the season and final game of the regular schedule.
