Terrapins Finish in Third

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - After sitting in a three-way tie for second with host school William & Mary and Rutgers, the Maryland men's golf team took hold of third after back-to-back 292 performances from the Terps. Donnie Shin remained in the sixth place slot after two rounds, carding a one-over-par 143 (71-72).
Only two strokes separated the Terps and the Tribe as they battled for the second position. William & Mary registered a 290 to the Terrapins' 292. Missouri took the crown with a 575 with one of their own taking individual honors, Jace Long, with a 139 (69-70).
Four Terrapins occupied positions in the top-25. Led by Shin, junior Andrew Kay took two strokes off his game for a 146 and tying for 12th place. Joey Rice finished tied for the 18th spot after a first round score of 71 and second round score of 76. Sophomore John Popeck improved his game by four strokes with a one-over-par 72 during the final round of competition. Popeck finished tied for No. 24 with a 148 (76-72). Tom Hanna used a 77 and 76 to card a 153 during the tournament.
Sean Brannan competed as an individual and came out with a 151 (74-77) to finish tied for 37th.
This is the third top-10 finish for the Terps this season and first in the top-five.
Maryland returns to the course April 2nd and 3rd at the River Landing Intercollegiate in Wallace, N.C.
