Postgame Quotes
On his initial thoughts about the scrimmage:
"I thought we got out of the scrimmage exactly what I wanted. There were a number of plays, everybody got in. I thought everybody played hard. There are a couple things we have to get better at, but I thought we tackled better defensively than we did last scrimmage. I think we've had a very good spring. I'm very pleased by where we're at right now. We'll get some people back and have a good summer. I think we should be ready to go."
"There were no injuries. We've had two really good scrimmages that were long. I didn't want this to be too long today. I thought our kids played hard today, I thought they had fun. I think we need a lot more game-type situations. Probably the biggest disappointment today was the poor interceptions, we haven't been doing that. But other than that, I thought we did some good things."
On Jamarr Robinson:
"Jamarr had the one interception, which I thought was the difference in the game, because the Red team was driving and they got the ball up high and it was tipped and it was an interception. At the end of the game, the mistakes I thought we made were when we caught the ball inside the 10-yard line, that probably would have gone out of bounds. Torrey didn't get out of bounds with no timeouts. Those are two critical mistakes. The defense did the smart thing, they laid on him, they kept him in bounds. You get mixed emotions, the one side is doing the right thing and the other side is making a mistake, so we have to learn from that and go from there."
On improvements in penalties:
"Penalties were better, but I won't be happy until there are no penalties."
On the running backs:
"That's about how [D.J.Adams] has been playing all spring. He's very tough. He's going to get the extra yard, he's going to run north and south. He's going to be a very good goal-line runner for us. Right now that's his niche on our team, maybe short yardage. I'm very pleased with Davin Meggett, I'm very pleased with Da'Rel Scott. I think they're much improved. I think Scott's running a lot lower, I think Meggett's running a lot faster, so they're going to be a good combination. I thought Gary Douglas did a good job also today. He's a little ahead of D.J. on pass pick-ups and what not. But I was pleased with him also. "
On QB C.J. Brown:
"I thought the quarterbacks did a good job. I thought C.J. Brown did a good job. He shows that he has some talent. He's a little behind the other guys but I think he has a bright future here."
On Dexter McDougle:
"We think he's going to be a very good player for us. I think he's coming on every day at corner, he's going to be a very good player for us."
