COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Former Maryland women's basketball head coach Chris Weller will be inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame as a part of the 2010 class and one of the best coaches in the game. She is the first Terrapin coach to be given the prestigious honor.

During the weekend of June 11-12, Weller will be officially inducted alongside other women's basketball greats; Leta Andrews, Teresa Edwards, Rebecca Lobo and Teresa Weatherspoon.

A 1966 Maryland graduate, Weller was named head coach for the Terrapins in 1975. In her 27 seasons with the Terps she guided Maryland to three Final Fours, eight Elite Eights, 10 Sweet Sixteen appearances and eight ACC Championships to include a win in the first ever women's basketball ACC Tournament Championship in 1978.

Named ACC Coach of the Year twice and the 1992 Naismith Coach of the Year, Weller was the fifth Division one coach to earn at least 400 victories at one school, setting a Maryland record with 499 wins and ranking in the Top 25 in all-time coaching wins.

Fans were invited and encouraged to attend the event in Knoxville, Tenn., and support the impacts and accomplishments these six incredible women have had on the game of basketball.

Saturday's event kicked off with the 4KayTM Run/Walk in memory of Women's Basketball Hall of Famer Kay Yow, who lost her battle with breast cancer last January.
