Questions for Kim
Do you have a nickname?
Kim or Kimmy, but my parents call me Fia (comes from my middle name)
How did you choose your number?
I'd worn 20 all through my high school career but KT had that number locked down. Somehow I ended up with 22.
What has impressed you the most about Coach Frese and her staff?
Our coaches and staff really care about our team and not just from a basketball standpoint. Their offices are always open to us and they really make us feel like we're in a family environment.
What are some of your goals for the next couple years?
Academically, my plans are to get a second undergraduate degree in psychology and then apply to grad school for the same field. Athletically, I want this team to win a couple more ACC championships and it would be amazing to experience a Final Four.
What is your favorite class?
I've taken a lot of good classes here, but my favorite one was definitely COMM330, which was an Argumentation and Public Policy Class. The professor was hilarious and made the class interesting.
What's it like to know you are halfway through your college career?
It's funny b/c even though I'm only 20, I feel old and like I've been around forever and I still have two years left. I'm just glad I've got the opportunity to play out all four years of my eligibility.
From Freddie: What is your favorite shot on the court?
Any 3-pointer, of course!
From Leann: What are your thoughts on playing in the ACC?
The ACC is one of, if not THE toughest conference to play in. The competition is intense every night and I'm glad I get to compete against so many good teams.
What motto do you try to live by each day?
I love this quote by Alfred Wainwright: “You were made to soar, to crash to earth, then to rise and soar again.”
From Stuart: Who is your role model and why?
I can't name a specific person, but I can say that I really admire any person that's experienced real adversity and refused to let it interfere with their lives. I respect people who make it their business to triumph over, rather than surrender to, obstacles.
Favorite professional sports player?
Ray Allen
What is your dream job?
Right now, it's to be a psychologist/therapist
From Kathy: What do you most look forward to this season?
EVERYTHING. Last season was rough so I can't wait to get started with the freshmen and continue working with the returning players so we can show people that Maryland is still a top program.
Tell me about your position coach.
Coach Adkins is a great coach and a great person who really cares about us as players and people. He's a really vocal guy and tries to push us (with his kind, soft words of course) to get better both on and of the court.
Hometown? What is something unique about it/your favorite thing to do there?
Virginia Beach. And I mean, it's the beach, my favorite thing to do there is just chill and hang out. We keep it simple.
From Tom: What's on your iPod?
Everything you can imagine, except country; my ears can't handle that. I always keep a few artists in heavy rotation though: Kid Cudi, Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and Drake. People always steal my music, so I assume I have impeccable musical taste haha.
From Shawn: What team do you most look forward to playing each year?
Duke…without a doubt.
From Carrie: Who got you in to playing basketball?
My Dad. I would tag along to the gym with him when I was like three, and I would try to shoot on the side while he played and worked out.
From: Heather: What do you do to unwind after a game?
Go get food and then sleep. I love sleep.
From Thomas: Do you have any pre-game superstitions or routines?
Not really because I'm not a superstitious person. But I do have to get treatment before every game and listen to my iPod. Those things are non-negotiable.
From Don: What have you been doing to condition this summer in spite of the injuries you have had this past couple of years?
This is the first summer where I can actually work out without any real restrictions so I've been doing everything. Our new strength coach has got us doing some intense stuff, but I like it a lot. And then I get about 500 shots up at least a few times a week. Plus, we'll be playing pickup soon. So basically, I'm doing everything I can to get in shape.
