Questions for Whitney
What were your thoughts when you first saw Comcast Center and the WBB facilities?
Oh my gosh! I loved it, I just imagined myself playing in Comcast Center and working out.
What do you think you can bring to the team this year?
Hopefully a National Championship! I just want our team to be successful and I will do whatever the coaching staff needs me to do to accomplish that goal.
Do you have any siblings?
Yes, I have an older sister. Most people confuse us as twins.
From Jackie: Can't wait to see you play here at Maryland. What was it like watching games on TV, knowing you'd be in the huddle and on the team next year? Thanks for choosing Maryland.
It was kind of weird. I wasn't just watching the games to see who would win or lose anymore. I was watching the way the coaches interacted with the players, which I loved, and how the team was so supportive of each other and I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of.
From Barbara: What do you feel your biggest adjustment will be moving from high school to college - a move that involves not only a different level of play, but a different environment where you will be on your own quite a bit?
The biggest adjustment is definitely the responsibilities, but I love it so far! Everyone is very supportive so I'm never really "alone."
Why did you choose Maryland?
I chose Maryland because I had a strong connection with the coaches and when I took my visit it just felt right. After my visit I knew I wanted to be a Terp!
From bpennin636: What part of the recruiting process was most enjoyable and positive?
Definitely getting to meet new people from different places and seeing the coaches from different teams that you watch and hear about all the time.
How did you choose your number?
23 is actually my favorite number but it was retired so I chose 32 because it is 23 backwards!
What has impressed you the most about Coach Frese and her staff?
How supportive they have been through the whole process. They really care about me on and off the court.
From Freddie: What is your favorite shot on the court?
Definitely the mid-range jump shot that is foul line extended. I feel it is a shot that not many people take for granted.
From Leann: What are your thoughts on playing in the ACC?
I'm very, very, very excited to be playing what we call in West Virginia "the big schools", haha.
What motto do you try to live by each day?
Everything happens for a reason. I live by that motto so when something goes wrong I know there is a reason for it and later on down the line most likely something good will come from the bad.
From Stuart: Who is your role model and why?
That's a hard one, but probably my sister because she is such a positive person. If something goes wrong she always tries to see the good in it, I wish I could be a little more like that.
Who is your favorite professional sports player?
I have two. Len Bias is definitely one of my favorite sports players. I've watched probably every game he ever played in and all the documentaries on him. I loved his style of play. And of course Candace Parker, she is definitely one of my favorite players, I love her style of play as well.

My dream job would definitely be to play in the WNBA. I also used to want to be the first woman to be a head men's basketball coach.

Just playing. Last year I sat out my whole senior season rehabbing my ACL. It will be great to finally get back in the game!
Hometown? What is something unique about it/your favorite thing to do there?
My hometown is right on the University of Marshall campus. The movie "We Are Marshall" is about my hometown. But my favorite thing to do is play outside which I can really do anywhere. It's just better beating people you know, haha.
