Maryland was ranked third by College Soccer News and sixth by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America in its respective national preseason polls.
The Terps finished sixth in the NSCAA poll last season after racking up a 15-6-2 record. The program garnered its ninth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament and advanced to at least the round of 16 for the eighth straight season.
Senior Jason Herrick was tabbed to College Soccer News' Second Team Preseason All-America list while Zac MacMath landed third team honors. The pair was named to the 39-player MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, announced Wednesday.
The Terps open the 2010 slate with an exhibition match against St. John's on Saturday, Aug. 21. The season officially kicks off when Michigan State rolls into College Park for Maryland's home opener Friday, Sept. 3.
