TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Maryland's Torrey Smith was named Wednesday to the preseason watch list for the 2010 Biletnikoff Award, which is bestowed annually on the nation's top wide receiver.

The list of 51 players, including eight from the Atlantic Coast Conference, was released by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation.

Semifinalists for the award, which is named after former All-American Fred Biletnikoff, will be announced Nov. 15, finalists on Nov. 22 and the winner on Dec. 9 at The Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show.

One of the top all-purpose players in the nation, Smith was voted to the preseason All-ACC team at two positions - wide receiver and specialist - after setting the league's single-season kickoff return yards record each of the last two years and posting 61 catches for 824 yards and five touchdowns as a sophomore.

Smith was a second-team all-conference choice at both positions after last season.

Leonard Hankerson (Miami), Greg Little (North Carolina), Bert Reed (Florida State), Jarvis Williams (N.C. State), Marshall Williams (Wake Forest), Donovan Varner (Duke) and Owen Spencer (N.C. State) are the other members of the watch list from the ACC.
