COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland Women's Basketball head coach Brenda Frese is pleased to announce Chris Campbell as the team's new Director of Operations. Campbell was an assistant coach at University of Delaware from 2008-10 and is a Maryland native.
"We feel very fortunate to be able to hire someone of Chris' caliber," said Frese. "He's very bright and really going to bring a lot to our program. His local ties are a bonus; he'll be another member of our staff that brings even more people into supporting our program."
While at Delaware, Campbell assisted head coach Tina Martin in recruiting, game plan preparation, practice plans, video, academic performance and more. He has earned a reputation as a tireless worker and is well versed in all aspects of the game.
"It is a thrill to join the Maryland Basketball staff," said Campbell. "Coach Frese is one of the best in the business, and I look forward to learning from her and the rest of her staff. I know this is the beginning of a great journey with the team. The University of Maryland is one of the top universities in the country for academics and athletics, and it is an honor to be a Terp and to join such a prestigious institution. There is an excitement around Maryland Women's Basketball, and I look forward to meeting many of the great fans that surround this program."
Prior to Delaware, Campbell was an assistant coach at Marymount and Catholic Universities. He also coached at Winston Churchill High School and was part of the Bulldogs' back-to-back state championships in 2002 and 2003. Campbell earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Duke University in 1996.
