
Thomas Named ACC Rookie of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Freshman Alyssa Thomas of the No. 13 Maryland women's basketball team was named the Atlantic Coast Conference's Rookie of the Week the league announced Monday. She earned the weekly honor for the third time this season.
Through the first three ACC games, Thomas is averaging 16.7 points per game, 11.3 rebounds and 3.7 steals per game. She notched her first and second career double-doubles at No. 3 Duke and against Boston College.
Against the Eagles, Thomas scored 18 points and grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds. At Clemson on Sunday, she was one point shy of her career high with 21 points. She had nine rebounds and nabbed a career-high seven steals.
Thomas has started in 16 games for Maryland this season. She has scored in double-figures in 14 of those 16 games. She was named the ACC's Rookie of the Week the weeks of Nov. 29 and Dec. 20.
Up next, Maryland will play at Virginia Friday at 8:30 p.m. The Terrapins-Cavaliers game will be shown live on the regional sports network, which includes Comcast SportsNet, Fox Sports South, Fox Sports Florida and the New England Sports Network.
Friday's game will also be broadcast live on the Terrapin Sports Radio Network and can be heard on ESPN 1300 (Baltimore) and ESPN 980 (DC).
The Terps will play host to No. 11 North Carolina Sunday at 5 p.m. The Maryland-North Carolina game will be shown on ESPN 2.
