
#15/14 Maryland Heads to Virginia

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 15/14 Maryland women's basketball team will play at Atlantic Coast Conference opponent Virginia Friday night. The Terrapins (14-3, 1-2 ACC) and the Cavaliers (11-8, 0-3 ACC) will tip off at 8:30 p.m. in John Paul Jones Arena.
The game will be shown on the regional sports network, which includes Comcast SportsNet, Fox Sports Net South, Fox Sports Net Florida, and New England Sports Network. Please check your local listings for more information.
Friday's game will also be broadcast on the Terrapin Sports Radio Network and can be heard on ESPN 1300 (Baltimore) and ESPN 980 (DC).
The Cavaliers own the all-time series over the Terps 31-42. The Cavaliers won the last meeting, 82-68 on Feb. 8, 2010 in College Park, but Maryland won the last meeting in Charlottesville - a 61-60 win over No. 21 Virginia on Jan. 11, 2010.
The Terrapins are coming off of an 80-59 win at Clemson Sunday afternoon. Freshman Alyssa Thomas led the Terrapins with 21 points, nine rebounds and a career-high seven steals. She was named the ACC's Rookie of the Week on Monday for the third time this season.
Sophomore Tianna Hawkins scored 19 points, all in the second half, and grabbed 10 boards for her second double-double of the season. She went 9-for-11 from the foul line.
Maryland moved to No. 15 in the latest edition of the Associated Press poll and No. 14 in the ESPN USA Today Top 25 Coaches poll this week.
After Friday's game, the Terrapins will play host to No. 10/11 North Carolina (16-2, 2-1 ACC) Sunday at 5:00 p.m. in Comcast Center. Sunday's game will be shown live on ESPN 2.
