Season Kick-Off Weekend

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland wrestling team announced a series of activities surrounding the start of the 2011-12 season and the season's first event the Red and Black Wrestle-Offs. The weekend begins Saturday, Oct. 29 when the Maryland football team takes on Boston College and concludes Sunday, Oct. 30 with the season-opening banquet.

The Terps will be recognized for their 2011 ACC Tournament championship at halftime of the football game Saturday. Kick-off is 3 p.m.

Sunday will feature the annual Red and Black Wrestle-Offs at 11 a.m. to determine the starters at each weight class for the Terrapin Duals the following weekend.

Following the Red and Black Wrestle-Offs, the Terps will host a season kick-off banquet at 2:30 p.m. in which the team will receive its 2011 ACC championship rings. Prior to the banquet, a silent auction will be held at 1:30 p.m.

Maryland finished 16-4 in 2011 and captured its third ACC title in four years.
