COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland volleyball team begins a two-game road swing at North Carolina Thursday at 7 p.m., and will conclude the trip in Raleigh against NC State Friday at 7 p.m. The match against NC State will be broadcast live via GoPack.com.
The Terps (9-14, 3-8) are looking to bounce back following weekend defeats to #19 Florida State and then-#25 Miami. Maryland received notable performances from senior Maddi Lee and junior Caitlin Adams in the two matches. Lee tallied 22 kills and four blocks, and Adams added 18 kills and 11 blocks.
Sophomore Mary Cushman continues to lead the team in kills. Through 23 matches, Cushman has 249 and is averaging 2.93 per set.
In conference play, freshman Adreene Elliott is ninth in the ACC converting 30 percent of her attack opportunities. Junior Remy McBain ranks seventh averaging 9.35 assists per set. McBain and sophomore Sarah Harper both rank in the top-10 in service aces. McBain and Harper are averaging 0.33 and 0.30 service aces, respectively. In addition, Harper is ninth in the conference averaging 4.12 digs per set.
North Carolina won the first meeting 3-0 on Sept. 23 and has won three of the last four matches. The Terps ended NC State's school record 13-match winning streak Sept. 25. Maryland has won six in a row against the Wolfpack.

The Tar Heels enter Thursday's match winners of 11 of their last 13 and in second place in the ACC. North Carolina rebounded from a straight set defeat to Duke to knock off Wake Forest 3-1 Friday night. The Tar Heels are ranked highly in several offensive categories within the ACC. North Carolina leads the conference in kills (15.29 per set) and assists (14.29), and is ranked fourth in hitting percentage (.236) while holding its opponents to the second-lowest hitting percentage (.181) in the ACC.
Emily McGee is second in kills and points averaging 4.00 and 4.56, respectively. Cameron Van Noy ranks fourth in hitting percentage (.345).
Kaylie Gibson has 209 digs on the season and is averaging 5.10 per set which is second best in the ACC.

Since losing to the Terps, the Wolfpack have lost seven of their past nine matches. NC State broke a six-match losing streak last Wednesday against Wake Forest, but fell to Duke in five sets Friday night. NC State is holding opponents to the third-lowest hitting percentage in the conference (.187), but is only converting a league-worst .162 of its attack opportunities.
NC State has two of the best on-the-net defenders in the ACC. Margaret Salata and Brie Merriwether both rank in the top-10 averaging 1.28 and 1.10 blocks per set, respectively.
