ATLANTA, Ga. - The Maryland volleyball team took the first set against Georgia Tech, but the Yellow Jackets responded and took the next three to defeat the Terps Friday night. The Terrapins will have one day to recover as they meet the Clemson Tigers Saturday evening.

Freshman Ashleigh Crutcher returned to the lineup and tallied 11 kills to lead Maryland. Junior Remy McBain recorded a double-double with 29 assists and 10 digs.

With the Terps trailing 17-11 in the first set, freshman Adreene Elliott ignited a four point Maryland run which included three straight blocks, two by freshman Carlisle Abele, to cut the Georgia Tech lead to two points. Following a Yellow Jacket kill by Ivona Kolak, the Terps would score the next six points capped by a Cushman kill to give Maryland the lead 21-18. The Yellow Jackets cut the Terrapin lead to one point twice, but back-to-back kills by Adams and Elliott won the set for Maryland.

In the second set, the Terps raced out to a 7-3 lead, but the Yellow Jackets fought back to cut the lead to one at 7-6, and the set stayed tight midway through the second frame. Following an Elliott block, Maryland led 15-12. Georgia Tech scored eight of the next nine points take control of the set. The Yellow Jackets went on to win 25-19.

The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the third set. Two kills by Adams help the Terps cut the deficit to four points at 12-8, but Georgia Tech scored 13 of the next 15 points to win 25-11.

Georgia Tech began the fourth set by scoring six of seven points to take a 6-1 lead. The Terps battled back to cut the Yellow Jacket lead to three at 10-7, but Maryland would not get any closer as Georgia Tech took control of the set and scored the next four points. The Yellow Jackets went on to win the set, 25-12, and the match.

Note: With 29 assists, McBain passed Libby Alberts for fifth all-time at Maryland. McBain has 2,114 career assists.
