Maryland was awarded the fifth overall seed in the 2011 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship Monday.
The Terps (13-3-3) will play the winner of Thursday's first-round match between Xavier (12-4-4) and West Virginia (12-7-1) at 5 p.m. Sunday at Ludwig Field.
Maryland picked up its 11th straight NCAA postseason appearance and looks to advance to the third round for the 10th straight season. The Terps have landed in the College Cup five times since 2002, including national titles in 2005 and 2008.
The postseason berth is Maryland's 31st as a program. The Terps are 44-25-4 in the NCAA tournament.
Atlantic Coast Conference schools racked up three of the top five seeds in the 48-team tournament as North Carolina and Boston College garnered the first and fourth seeds, respectively. Maryland has faced four of the 11 teams in its portion of the bracket, including West Virginia, Virginia, Rutgers and Boston College, in 2011.
