Game Notes vs. Towson

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The ninth-ranked Maryland women's basketball team is set to battle another local opponent this week in Towson, Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Comcast Center.

The Terrapins (2-0) are coming off of a 72-53 win over No. 11 Georgetown Sunday behind double-doubles from Alyssa Thomas and Tianna Hawkins. Thomas was named ACC Player of the Week Monday for her performance.

Towson won at Western Kentucky, 67-62, Saturday night in its season opener. Nyree Williams landed a double-double with 11 points and rebounds. Tanisha Miller led the Tigers with 18 points and Meredith Kennedy added 17.

After last weekend's results, the Terps are ranked No. 9 in the ESPN/USA Today Division I Coaches' poll and are No. 10 in the Associated Press rankings.
