
Townsend Nabs Pair of National Honors

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Senior Casey Townsend was named College Soccer News and TopDrawerSoccer.com National Player of the Week for his superb effort against West Virginia Sunday.
The Traverse City, Mich., native tacked on his second hat trick of the season with three against the Mountaineers Sunday in the second round of the 2011 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship.
Townsend, who was named Soccer America and NSCAA National Player of the Week in late September after leading the Terps to wins over nationally ranked Charlotte and Creighton, is now tied for fourth all-time in career goals (42) at Maryland and is also tied for ninth with former great Taylor Twellman with 16 goals this season.
The fifth-seeded Terps battle No. 12 Louisville in third round action at 5 p.m. Sunday at Ludwig Field.
