COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland men's soccer program enjoyed yet another stellar campaign this season. Let's take a look back at the top 11 Terp moments in 2011.

Cirovski Picks up Career Win No. 300

Head coach Sasho Cirovski secured victory number 300 as the No. 4 Maryland men's soccer team defeated Radford 2-1 on Sept. 4 at Ludwig Field.

The victory vaulted Cirovski into the top 10 all-time among active NCAA Division I men's soccer head coaches.

After the match, Cirovski called the accomplishment a `collaborative team effort.'

"It took a lot of blood, sweat and tears from my former players and coaches," Cirovski, who wrapped up his 19th season in College Park, said. "It's more of an achievement for the program than just the individual coach."

Stertzer's Sweet Revenge at UMBC

Senior Casey Townsend tallied three goals and John Stertzer headed home the winner in overtime to lead No. 1 Maryland past UMBC 4-3 in front of a Retriever Soccer Park record crowd Sept. 13.

Stertzer, after missing a possible game-winning penalty kick with 30 seconds left in the first overtime period, snagged a perfect cross from Taylor Kemp and headed home the winner from five yards out in the 104th minute.

Maryland Drops #12 Charlotte, #2 Creighton

Three first-half strikes in a span of 12 minutes propelled the No. 3 Maryland men's soccer team past No. 12 Charlotte, 3-1, on a misty night Sept. 27.

Just three days later, Casey Townsend's goal in the 14th minute was all the Terrapins needed to remain undefeated on the season as they upended previously unbeaten and second-ranked Creighton 1-0 before a raucous crowd at Ludwig Field.

Stertzer's 21st Birthday Bash

John Stertzer celebrated his birthday in style Oct. 4, scoring twice to lead the No. 2 Maryland men's soccer team past Rutgers in overtime, 2-1.

The Terps also raised over $2,400 for the Young Survival Coalition through an auction in conjunction with the `Power in Pink' match against Rutgers.

Terps Net 11-0-1 Start, Best Since 1968

With wins against St. John's, West Virginia, Stanford, Radford, Boston College, UMBC, NC State, Virginia Tech, Charlotte, Creighton and Rutgers along with a tie at Seton Hall, Maryland recorded its finest start in 43 years.

Maryland Sets New Ludwig Field Attendance Record in Rout of Duke

The Terps, who played in front of a Ludwig Field-record 7,957 fans, scored three second-half goals, including two from John Stertzer, to best ACC rival Duke 4-2 despite playing a man down for the game's final 23 minutes.

Terps Rack up ACC Honors

Maryland placed a league-high six student-athletes on the 2011 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer Team, announced in early November.

Senior Casey Townsend was tabbed to the first team for a second consecutive season. He joined junior John Stertzer as the Terps' first team representatives. Sophomores Sunny Jane and Patrick Mullins and juniors Taylor Kemp and London Woodberry were tabbed to the second team.

Townsend's Hat Trick Topples West Virginia in the NCAA Tournament

Casey Townsend tallied a hat trick as No. 5 seed Maryland scored three second-half goals to defeat West Virginia 4-0 in the second round of the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship.

It was the MAC Hermann Trophy candidate's second hat trick of the season.

Terps Tally 10th Straight Appearance in NCAA Third Round

The Terps secured their nation-best 10th straight trip to the third round of the NCAA tournament with a win against West Virginia this season.

Maryland has landed in the College Cup five times since 2002. The Terps are 12-4-2 in the second round of the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship.

Maryland Secures 18th Straight Winning Season

With a 14-4-3 record in 2011, Maryland clinched yet another winning season - its 18th consecutive.

Maryland has averaged more than 15 wins per season since 1994. The Terps have had three 20+ win seasons in that span and have eclipsed the 15-victory mark 10 times.

Townsend Makes His Mark on Program History

Senior Casey Townsend ended his illustrious career at Maryland with a bang, scoring five goals in his last three matches in College Park.

The Traverse City, Mich., native finished his four-year run ranked third in goals (43) and fifth in points (96) in Maryland history. His 17 goals in 2011 is also the sixth-highest mark in Terp single-season annals.
