University Park, Pa. - Redshirt sophomore Christian Boley, ranked 20th at 197, defeated two ranked opponents including 10th-ranked Morgan McIntosh of Penn State to win the Nittany Lion Open Sunday afternoon. The Terps placed seven wrestlers including four in the top-3 of their respective weight classes.

"Christian finished off a great weekend with three wins over top-10 opponents," said head coach Kerry McCoy. "Jimmy [Sheptock] went toe-to-toe with one of the best guys in the country, and Spencer [Myers] and Frank [Goodwin] did a great job coming back after tough semifinal losses. I am glad we got exposed to this high level of competition and think we handled it well."

Boley went 5-0 on the day and defeated eighth-ranked Daniel Mitchell of American for the second time in three days in the semifinals. In the title bout, Boley earned a 12-9 decision over McIntosh to cap an impressive weekend in which the Brockport, N.Y., native defeated three ranked opponents.

At 174, redshirt sophomore Jimmy Sheptock went 4-1 on Sunday including a 3-1 sudden victory decision over 12th-ranked Turtogtokh Luvsandorj of The Citadel to advance to the final against second-ranked Ed Ruth of Penn State. Sheptock lost a 7-4 decision to Ruth.

Sophomores Frank Goodwin and Spencer Myers both rebounded from semifinal losses to claim third place at 141 and 285, respectively. Goodwin picked up four wins including a pin of Buffalo's Dan Gormley to open the tournament and a 10-0 major decision over The Citadel's Jordan Dix.

Tenth-ranked Myers won four matches with two wins coming via technical fall. Myers defeated Adam Barnette of George Mason to open the draw and followed the victory with a 16-1 technical fall over Wyatt Baker of Columbia.

The all-day event featured 475 wrestlers and 10 ranked teams.
