GREENSBORO, N.C. - Kiani Profit posted an NCAA automatic-qualifying mark in the pentathlon en route to being recognized as the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Indoor Track & Field Performer of the Week.
Profit took top honors in the women's pentathlon at the Penn State National Invitational, scoring 4,109 points. The Pasadena, Calif., native won the competition by more than 100 points, collecting three first place and two second-place finishes in the heptathlon events Saturday. Her score of 4,109 currently ranks third in the country. Profit automatically qualified for the 2011 NCAA Indoor Championships and will compete in the heptathlon for the second-straight year after finishing second in the competition in 2010.
All 12 conference teams are in action this weekend. The Terrapins travel to Blacksburg, Va., for the Virginia Tech Elite Meet February 4-5.
