2011 ACC Football Team-by-Team Schedule

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
A 2011 Terrapin football schedule which includes a Labor Day matchup with Miami, an early season tilt vs. West Virginia and a November meeting with Notre Dame at FedEx Field was jointly announced Monday by the Atlantic Coast Conference and the University of Maryland.
Maryland will open 2011, the first year in College Park for head coach Randy Edsall, with four consecutive home games, including the season-opener against Miami on Monday, Sept. 5, a game which will be nationally televised by ESPN with a kickoff scheduled for 8 p.m. EST.
It will mark the second year in a row the Terps have played to a national audience on Labor Day. Maryland opened the 2010 season with a thrilling 17-14 win over Navy at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.
After an early-season bye (Sept. 10), the Terps will face interstate rival West Virginia on Sept. 17 at Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium, marking the Mountaineers' first visit to College Park since 2007.
Maryland will close the early-season homestand with non-conference games against Temple (Sept. 24) and Towson (Oct. 1), a first-time in-state opponent.
The Maryland-Towson game was originally scheduled for the opening weekend of the season.
"We were approached by the ACC about playing Miami in a prime-time national broadcast on ESPN," Maryland director of athletics Kevin Anderson said. "Based on the positive experience that our student-athletes and many of our fans enjoyed last season playing on Labor Day, we agreed to the request."
Maryland has played a league opponent in the season-opener numerous times, the last coming in 2001 vs. North Carolina.
"We are excited to have the opportunity to open the 2011 season in Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium on national TV against an ACC rival," Anderson said. "We also want to thank Towson University for working with us and the league office on adjusting the schedule."
Following the Towson game, the Terps head back into conference play with a road game on Oct. 8 against Georgia Tech, the first meeting between the teams since 2007.
A home game vs. Clemson (Oct. 15) and a road contest vs. Florida State (Oct. 22), the defending Atlantic Division Champion, follow the matchup in Atlanta with the Yellow Jackets.
While the Terps play all but four of their 2011 games locally, the last of seven home contests occurs in early November.
Maryland will play host to Boston College on Oct. 29 and another border rival, Virginia, on Nov. 5.
The Terps, who have never played at FedEx Field, will make a short drive down Interstate 95 on Nov. 12 to face Notre Dame at the home of the Washington Redskins. Despite the close proximity to College Park, the Fighting Irish will serve as the home team.
The Terrapins close the regular season on the road with Wake Forest (Nov. 19) and NC State (Nov. 26).
Other game times will be announced at a later date. League home games are selected on a 12-day option by ESPN/ABC or the ACC Network. During the season, ESPN/ABC can choose certain ACC games on a six-day window.
Season tickets are now available for purchase and renewal. Season-ticket prices have been reduced from last season and a variety of options are available starting as low as $130. There are also family 4-packs available for $480 and season-ticket holders have the ability to spread the cost over six monthly installments.
Season-ticket packages for 2011 will not include the Notre Dame game at FedEx Field. First priority to purchase tickets for this game through the Maryland Athletics Ticket Office will be given to current Terrapin Club members and football season-ticket holders. More information on the Notre Dame game will be released soon.
