Former Maryland standout Maurice Edu scored a stoppage-time goal to lift the Glasgow Rangers into the last 16 of the Europa League Thursday.
Edu's close-range strike tied up the match with Sporting Lisbon, 2-2, and allowed the Rangers to advance with an aggregate advantage.
"It's big," Edu said, courtesy of the Rangers' official website. "We came here intent on advancing and made life a little bit difficult for ourselves but we found a way to pull ourselves through in the end."
The win sets up a battle with PSV in the last 16 of the Europa League Sunday.
