COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland baseball program held its inaugural leadoff banquet Friday night at the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center.
Head coach Erik Bakich introduced the 2011 Terrapins to a crowd of more than 250 and former Los Angeles Dodgers manager and Hall of Famer Tommy Lasorda served as the keynote speaker.
The evening also featured live and silent auctions to raise money for the baseball program. All proceeds were matched by Capital A Entertainment and donated directly to the team.
The Terps open their season in two weeks with a four-game series at Texas from Feb. 18-20.

About Tommy Lasorda
Lasorda, one of the most identifiable names in baseball, had a brilliant 20-year managing career with the Dodgers.
