Georgetown advanced to the third round of the 2011 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament to take on the No.1-seeded Connecticut Sunday at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Sunday March 27.
Maryland finishes the season with a 24-8 overall mark. The Terps do not graduate anybody off this year's squad.
Maryland and Georgetown met for the second time this season. Then No. 13 Georgetown won the first meeting 53-46 at McDonough Arena against the then 21st-ranked Terps (Nov. 16). Prior to this season, the teams haven't played since 2003. The Terps lead the all-time series 8-2.

Starting Lineup: Anjale Barrett, Lynetta Lizer, Kim Rodgers, Diandra Tchatchouang, and Alyssa Thomas.
Three Terps reached double figures against the Hoyas: Alyssa Thomas (23), Lauren Mincy (12) and Lynetta Kizer (11).
Rebounding Edge: Maryland outrebounded Georgetown 40-38 in this meeting after dominating the glass in the first matchup of the season (63-44).
Bench Mark: The Terps also got 19 points, a third of their scoring, from the bench. Lauren Mincy led all bench players with 12 points, including two 3-pointers in the first half to give Maryland a 15-14 lead.
Totally Thomas: Maryland freshman Alyssa Thomas nabbed a career-best 14 rebounds, scored 23 points, and shot a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line.
Maryland Individual Game Notes
Freshman Lauren Mincy was second on the team with 12 points. Her two 3-pointers were critical in Maryland's 14-3 run to take the lead early on. She also grabbed four boards in 26 minutes off the bench.
Junior Lynetta Kizer recorded her 10th double-double of the season, and 28th of her career. The Terp veteran grabbed 10 boards and chipped in 11 points.
Georgetown Team Game Notes
Starting Lineup: Tia Magee, Adria Crawford, Rubylee Wright, Sugar Rodgers, Monica McNutt.
Four Hoyas reached double figures: Sugar Rodgers (34), Monica McNutt (14), Rubylee Wright (14) and Alex Roche (10).
Sugar Rush: The Hoyas' Sugar Rodgers helped the Hoyas hold a formidable halftime lead with her 21 points in the opening 20 minutes. She had 18 of Georgetown's first 26 points with less than 12 minutes gone in the game.
Streaky Start: Georgetown scored the game's first 11 points to take an early 13-1 lead. The Hoyas then used a 25-11 run to end the half for a 40-26 lead.
Thirteen Threes: Georgetown matched the NCAA Tournament record for first and second round games with 13 three-pointers. The feat was also accomplished by BYU (vs. Oklahoma, March 18, 2000 - first round of the East Region) and New Mexico (vs. Mississippi State, March 24, 2003 - second round of the Midwest Region)
Georgetown Individual Game Notes
Sugar Rodgers hit seven 3-pointers, tying her own career high, and set a new career best with 34 points. Rodgers is one of eight players to hit seven or more 3-pointers during a first or second round game of the NCAA Tournament (record of eight is held by two individuals). The most recent player to hit seven or more threes in a first or second round game was Rosalyn Gold-Onwude of Stanford (vs. Iowa in the second round of the 2010 NCAA Tournament).
Senior Monica McNutt chipped in 14 points for the Hoyas. She also led the team with five assists.
