Ten Terrapins were over 6'0 tall and eight were over 6'2. None of the Terps' opponents had height that could compare.
With their size advantage, the Terrapins ended the year with a rebounding margin of +12.1, which was top-five in the country. For much of the year, they held a spot in the top three or higher. They also led the ACC in rebounding and offensive boards.
"There's no doubt the strength of our team was our inside presence. Every game we knew what our opposition was going to try to take away from us," head coach Brenda Frese said.
Rebounding is about heart and the drive to succeed. Through their growing process this season, the Terrapins proved they have plenty of both.
"Certainly, the way our season ended was less than satisfying, but I try to remember the challenges we all faced this season and where we were a year ago. When I step back and look at all that, I think, overall, we did a pretty good job," Frese said. "That being said, we're very competitive people and we want more. To borrow a phrase from Lou Holtz, I don't think we were put here to be ordinary. And I can say with absolute certainty that we are very driven to succeed."
