
Maryland Drops Akron, 3-1, in Spring Action

AKRON, Ohio - The Maryland men's soccer team dropped reigning national champion Akron, 3-1, Saturday in spring action.
The Terps kicked off the match with three unanswered goals before the Zips netted their lone tally in the 78th minute. Patrick Mullins scored the match's first goal at 20:39 off an assist from Kaoru Forbess. Matt Oduaran connected on a 1v1 against the Zip goalkeeper at 40:45 for the eventual game-winner and John Stertzer provided the Terps with an insurance goal from 25 yards in the 66th minute.
"It was a high quality and competitive spring game," head coach Sasho Cirovski said. "We played well and our finishing was excellent. These are the types of spring games that help build your team for the fall. We grew a little today."
Maryland returns to action with a match against D.C. United April 10 at the RFK Auxiliary Fields.
