NEW YORK -
It was a tremendous week for former Terps in the professional ranks with Maryland soccer alums shining both in the MLS and abroad.
Omar Gonzalez, Rodney Wallace and Ethan White were all tabbed to the Week 5 MLSsoccer.com Team of the Week.
Below is the MLS website's breakdown of each former Terp on this week's list:
DF - Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy): Led the back line's shutout against Toronto FC in midweek and then helped extinguish a Fire attack that rarely threatened LA.
DF - Ethan White (D.C. United): His own coach calls the academy product a "beast." Ben Olsen has some decisions to make as far as his center back selections.
DF - Rodney Wallace (Portland Timbers): The big knock on Wallace is that he attacks too much. Well, this week he showed he can do double duty, scoring two goals in consecutive games and canceling out Marvin Chavez.
Three Terps accounted for game-winners in last weekend's action. Robbie Rogers sealed a Columbus Crew win against Sporting KC, Gonzalez's score lifted LA past Chicago and Wallace tallied the third goal in a 3-2 win at home versus FC Dallas.
In addition to a slew of former Terps shining in the states, Clarence Goodson netted his first SAS Liga goal to spark Brondby to a 3-0 victory over Esbjerg. He wore the captain's armband in just his third game with the club.
