Terps Celebrate Season at Annual Banquet

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland men's soccer team gathered for its end of the year banquet Monday night at the UMCP Golf Course.

The 2010 Atlantic Coast Conference champions celebrated with teammates, family and friends while distributing several awards. Jason Herrick and Casey Townsend gathered Most Valuable Offensive Player honors and Zac MacMath and Matt Kassel earned top defensive accolades. A complete list of the award winners are listed below along with a compilation of the team highlights for the 2010 campaign.

2010 Team Highlights

  • 16th straight NCAA appearance
  • Terps have advanced to NCAA Quarterfinals seven times since 2002
  • Fourth ACC Championship; Second in the last three seasons
  • 15-game winning streak
  • Tied program-record for shutouts in a season with 15
  • Four players tabbed to All-ACC First Team; more All-ACC selections than any other program
  • Patrick Mullins named ACC Freshman of the Year
  • MacMath and Kassel Named NSCAA First Team All-Americans; Herrick on second team
  • Established new Ludwig Field record with 7,260 fans in a win on Oct. 1 against Duke
  • Celebrated 1,000th game in program history with a win against George Mason on Sept. 21
  • Led NCAA is goals for and goals against average
  • Kassel finished sixth all-time in career assists
  • Three players were drafted by the MLS; Two players nabbed MLS Homegrown contracts
