GREENSBORO, N.C. -
Maryland freshman infielder Kyle Convissar has been named to the 2011 Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball All-ACC Academic Team, along with 40 other student-athletes from ACC schools, announced commissioner John Swofford on Friday.
Convissar, who is majoring in finance, proved to be a versatile asset in his debut season with the Terps. The Severna Park, Md., native played in 38 games and saw time at second base, shortstop, third base, outfield and designated hitter.
In 81 at-bats, Convissar recorded 21 hits (.259 average), 10 runs and eight RBIs. He also stole seven bases on 10 attempts and finished the season error-free defensively.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative average during his academic career.
