COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Former Maryland women's basketball player Vicky Bullett will be inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame Saturday in Knoxville, Tenn. as part of the 2011 class. Bullett, one of the greatest Maryland legends, will be the third Terrapin to be inducted, following former head coach Chris Weller and Tara Heiss.

Along with the weekend's events, Bullett will be officially inducted alongside other women's basketball greats Val Ackerman, Ruthie Bolton, Muffet McGraw, Pearl Moore and Lometa Odom. In addition, the All American Red Heads will be honored in the Hall's "Trailblazers of the Game" exhibit for their contributions to the game of basketball.

A Terp from 1986-89, Bullett was named to the 1989 Kodak All-America team. Over the course of her career she averaged 16.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game to become one of the most decorated players in Maryland history. Bullett was a member of three ACC Championship teams en route to being named the 1989 ACC Player of the Year, and ACC Tournament MVP. She is fourth all-time in the Maryland record books in scoring with 1,928 points in her Terrapin career and is third in rebounding with 968 boards.

A two-time Olympian, Bullett was a part of the USA Women's Basketball team that won gold in 1988 and captured bronze in 1992. She played six seasons in the WNBA for the Charlotte Sting and the Washington Mystics from 1997-2001, scoring 2,018 points.

"What Vicky accomplished as a player is incredible and she had the kind of career most can only dream about," head coach Brenda Frese said. "We're incredibly proud of her and that we can claim her as one of Maryland's own."

The festivities will begin Friday, June 10, with a private inductee welcome event at the WBHOF in the evening that will be open to WBHOF inductees, past and present, their family and friends, and WBHOF Board Members. In addition to the official unveiling of the Class of 2011 exhibits in the Hall of Honor, each member of the Class of 2011 will receive a diamond WBHOF pin and a commemorative autographed basketball during a special presentation.

Saturday's events will kick off bright and early as those gathered in Knoxville for Induction weekend join Knoxville residents to participate in the Third Annual 4KayTM Run/Walk at 8 a.m.

The Induction Ceremony will begin at the Bijou Theatre at 7 p.m. and guests will be invited to attend a Post-Induction Celebration and Silent Auction at the WBHOF at 9 p.m. All proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame.

The Induction Ceremony will be hosted by ESPN Women's Basketball Analyst and Hall of Fame Board Member Debbie Antonelli. In addition to celebrating each inductee's crowning basketball achievements with the presentation of "The Eastman" award, the Induction ceremony will feature the music of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra and the WBHOF Choir.
