
Former Terp Passes Away

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Former standout Maryland defensive back Steve Trimble passed away suddenly Monday.
Trimble, a native of Cumberland, Md., played for the Terps from 1976-80, lettering his final three seasons. He played in 31 career games under head coach Jerry Claiborne, posting 158 tackles and six interceptions, as well as recovering three fumbles. He was also the primary punt returner his final two seasons.
The Terps posted a 24-11 record during his final three seasons, including a pair of bowl trips.
Trimble, 53, went on to play four seasons in the NFL (1981-83 with Denver; 1987 with Chicago) and was most recently the head football coach at O'Connell High School in Arlington, Va.
