COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Nine gymnastics' coaches from across the country, including Terps head coach Brett Nelligan and his staff, hosted a record 114 gymnasts ranging through eight different levels for the Maryland Gymnastics Camp that ran from July 31 through Aug. 4.
Over the five days, the campers received instruction on the vault, bars, beam and floor. The program also included a dance rotation, conditioning exercises, trampoline and team building activities.
"We had an incredible week of camp. The turnout was great, lots of young talented gymnasts from all over the country," said Nelligan.
The camp was designed to teach the campers the fundamentals of gymnastics with the goal to meet the needs of each individual gymnast.
"I thought we put together one of the most outstanding groups of staff I've ever seen in one place," said Nelligan. "These campers learned a lot from some great coaches."
Current Terrapin gymnasts participated as camp counselors and assisted in skill instruction allowing the Terps to leave a lasting and positive impact on the attendees.
