COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland volleyball team has selected junior Remy McBain, and sophomores Mary Cushman and Sarah Harper as team captains for the 2011 season head coach Tim Horsmon announced today.
McBain, who was named to the Preseason All-ACC Team on Tuesday, is ninth in school history in assists (1,441) and will serve as a Maryland team captain for the first time.
A member of the 2010 ACC All-Freshman Team, Cushman led the team in kills (343) and provides a reliable attacking threat at the outside hitter position.
Libero and defensive specialist Sarah Harper is a great athlete who is quick and controls the ball very well. She ranked fifth in the ACC last season with 0.29 service aces per set and finished second on the team in digs (277).
Both Cushman and Harper are first-time captains as well.
