
Terps Set to Being ACC Play Tuesday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland volleyball team will begin conference play Tuesday evening as Boston College hosts the Terps at 5 p.m. The Terps (6-6) split their two meetings with the Eagles last season and are 8-5 all-time against Boston College.
The Terrapins enter the ACC season losing two of three matches at the Sports Imports Classic in Columbus, Ohio, including a four-set match against No. 25 Ohio State. Sophomore Mary Cushman earned all-tournament honors finishing with 35 kills over the three matches.
Cushman, freshman Ashleigh Crutcher and senior Maddi Lee lead the Terps offensively. Cushman has a team-high 134 kills and is averaging close to three kills per set, while Crutcher and Lee have tallied 125 and 112, respectively.
Junior Remy McBain has moved into sixth all-time at Maryland in assists with 1,902. The preseason All-ACC selection leads the conference in assists and is sixth in assists per set.
Sophomore Sarah Harper's 213 digs is a team high and ranks among the best in the conference. Crutcher and sophomore Caroline Niski provide support on the backline. Crutcher has totaled 124 digs with Niski adding 103.

Coached by Chris Campbell in his second season at the school, the Eagles are 3-7 after dropping two of three matches at the Seton Hall Tournament this past weekend. The Eagles were swept by TCU and lost to the host Pirates, 3-2, Friday. Boston College won the final match of the event, 3-0, over the New Jersey Institute of Technology Saturday.
Senior Tsvetelina Dureva leads BC in kills with 88 and is averaging 3.14 per set which is ninth in the ACC.
Sophomore Cagla Sen is the Eagles' primary setter. Sen has totaled 161 assists with 6.19 average per set.
Defensively, senior libero Brennan Clark has a team-high 143 digs followed by Dureva's 70. Clark's 5.11 per set average is second-best in the ACC.
As a team, Boston College is averaging 9.5 kills per set and 8.9 assists per set, while its opponents average 12.8 kills per set and 11.7 assists. On defense, BC averages 16.3 digs per set along with its opponents.
