  • Thursday's matchup will mark the 14th meeting between Maryland and Virginia Tech. The Terrapins have won the last six straight meetings, dating back to 2006.

  • As part of the Get to Know Your Terps series, Sequoia Austin (Greenbelt, Md./Holton Arms School) and Lynetta Kizer (Woodbridge, Va./Potomac) will be featured in Thursday's game.

  • The Terrapins beat the Hokies, 61-48, in their only meeting last year. Alyssa Thomas led the Terps with 15 points, but Laurin Mincy added 12 with four three-pointers. Lynetta Kizer had a double-double with 11 points, 12 rebounds.

  • Most recently, the Terps fell in close game at No. 5 Duke, 80-72. Thomas tied career-high 26 points and had 10 rebounds. Tianna Hawkins added 17 points and Kizer had 12. The Terrapins pulled within three with 3:22 left to play, but a three by Duke put the Blue Devils back up by six.

  • The Terps stayed at No. 8 in the Associated Press poll and No. 7 in the ESPN/USA Today Division I Top 25 Coaches' poll this week.
