GREENSBORO, N.C. - Sophomore Alyssa Thomas of the fifth-ranked Maryland women's basketball team was named the Atlantic Coast Conference's Player of the Week for the second consecutive week the league announced Monday.

In the Terps' first three ACC games, Thomas averaged 23.0 points per game, 9.7 rebounds per contest, and had two double-doubles. She helped lead the Terrapins (16-0, 3-0) to wins in all three games as she shot 40.7 percent from the field and 85.0 percent from the foul line.

At Florida State, Thomas finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds to help Maryland to a 91-70 win to open ACC play.

Against Georgia Tech, she sparked the Terrapins to come back from a 20-point deficit with 17 minutes remaining in the game. She went on a 9-0 run herself and finished with 18 of her 24 points in the second half. She sunk a jumper from the key with 17.0 seconds left to give Maryland a 75-74 lead. She was fouled on the play and sunk the free throw to go 10-for-10 from the line for the game.

At No. 23 North Carolina, she helped send the game to overtime as Maryland trailed by six with 1:29 left to play. With less than three seconds in the game, she took it along the baseline and finished a reverse layup to tie the game at 67. She scored three points in overtime to help Maryland to a 78-72 win.

This is Thomas' 10th career weekly honor from the league. She earned seven Rookie of the Week nods last season and was named Player of the Week earlier this season on Nov. 14 and on Jan. 2.

Maryland will hit the road once again this week, as the Terps take on No. 13 Miami (11-3, 1-1) Thursday at 7 p.m. at the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables, Fla. Thursday's game will be streamed live online for a fee at HurricaneSports.com.
