COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
The University of Maryland football team will express its appreciation for the men and women who have served and are serving our nation through military service by holding Military and Veterans Appreciation Day on Saturday.
More than 4,000 veteran and active-duty military personnel have been invited to Saturday's game vs. Georgia Tech, and complimentary tickets have been provided by Capital One Bank and the University of Maryland.
At halftime, 300 military veterans will be recognized on the field and Maryland's band, `The Mighty Sound of Maryland,' will perform the Armed Forces Salute.
Prior to the game, active service members will be participating in the pre-game flag presentation during the national anthem.
The Student Advisory Committee will also be hosting a canned food drive to support Capital Area Food Bank. Non-perishable food donations will be accepted at all gates of Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium.
