The Maryland volleyball team begins a five-match road trip this weekend against Virginia and Virginia Tech.
The Terps and Cavaliers will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday from Charlottesville, and the Terps will close the weekend in Blacksburg against the Hokies on Saturday at 6 p.m.

Last Time Out
Mary Cushman finished with 18 kills and 14 digs, and Ashleigh Crutcher had 16 kills to lead Maryland to a five-set win over Duke on Sunday. In her final home match as a Terp, Remy McBain finished one kill shy of a triple-double with nine kills, 35 assists and 12 digs.
What's Next
Maryland travels to the Sunshine State to take on No. 13 Florida State and Miami. The Terps and Seminoles are scheduled for Friday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. On Sunday, Nov. 18, the Terps and Hurricanes square off at 1 p.m.

Scouting the Terps
The Terps enter the weekend winners of two in a row and four of their last five matches.
Maryland ranks fourth in the ACC in assists (12.57 A/S) and kills 13.61 (K/S). The Terps are hitting .218 this season, which ranks eighth in the conference, and are holding opponents to .209 hitting, which is eighth best in the league.
Ashleigh Crutcher leads the ACC in kills (231) and has the second-best kill per set average (3.92). Adreené Elliott is second on the team in kills (268), and ranks seventh in the ACC and 40th nationally with a .369 hitting percentage.
Mackenzie Dagostino's 27 service aces lead the team and her 0.27 per set average is 10th best in the conference.
Elliott leads the team in total blocks (101) and is averaging 1.01 per set. Along the backline, Sarah Harper leads the team in digs (325). Amy Dion is averaging 4.73 digs per set over the last five matches.
Scouting the Cavaliers
The Cavaliers are 2-3 in their last five matches with wins over Georgia Tech and Wake Forest. On Saturday, Virginia dropped a four-set match against Clemson.
As a team, Virginia ranks fifth in the ACC in service aces (1.22 SA/S) and ranks 11th in assists (11.40 A/S), hitting percentage (.172) and kills (12.22 K/S). Opponents are hitting .228 against the Cavaliers, which ranks 12th in the conference.
Natalie Bausback and Jessica O'Shoney are the top two hitters for the Cavs. Bausback and O'Shoney average 2.75 and 2.56 kills per set, respectively.
Tori Janowski is the primary setter. Janowski is averaging 7.26 assists per set, which ranks ninth in the conference. Defensively, Emily Rottman is fifth in the ACC with a 4.44 digs per set average.
Scouting the Hokies
Virginia Tech snapped a three-match losing on Sunday against Georgia Tech. The Hokies are 3-7 in their last 10 matches.
The Hokies rank as one of the strongest offensive teams in the ACC. Virginia Tech ranks third in hitting percentage (.255), and ranks fifth in assists (12.54 A/S) and kills (13.38 K/S). However, opponents are hitting .219 against the Hokies, which ranks 10th.
Jenifer Wiker leads the team in kills (291) and is averaging 3.16 per set this season, which ranks eighth in the conference. Three Hokies rank in the top seven in the conference in hitting percentage: Kathtyn Caine (.380), Cara Baarendse (.366) and Victoria Hamsher (.346).
Jordan Fish ranks as one of the league's best setters. Fish is third with an average of 10.39 assists per set. Defensively, Morgan O'Neill averages 4.46 digs per set, third highest in the league.
Series History
The Terps lead the all-time series with Virginia by a margin of 35-21 including a four-set victory over the Wahoos on Sept. 30 in College Park. The Terps last defeated the Cavaliers in Charlottesville on Nov. 5, 2010.
Maryland has won 10 of 19 meetings against Virginia Tech. The Hokies have won three in a row in the series including a five-set win over the Terps on Sept. 28. Maryland's last win over Virginia Tech came on Oct. 8, 2010, and the Terrapins' last win over the Hokies in Blacksburg came on Sept. 30, 2005.
Head Coach
Tim Horsmon
Tim Horsmon is in his fifth season in charge of the Maryland volleyball team. With the Terps' victory over Villanova on Aug. 24, Horsmon won his 50th career game at Maryland.
With Maryland's win over Duke on Sunday, Horsmon now has 288 career wins.
Three-In-A-Row
After knocking down 28 kills and 20 kills against Clemson and Georgia Tech, respectively, Ashleigh Crutcher had 23 kills against Wake Forest on Friday night. Crutcher is the first Terrapin with three consecutive 20-plus kill matches since Carey Brennan completed the feat on Oct. 29, 2002, against Wake Forest.
On a Role
The Terps scored eight consecutive points in the fourth set Friday night to defeat Wake Forest, 26-24, seven of the points came with Kelsey Hrebenach at the service line. The freshman tallied four aces during that span and finished the match with a career-high six aces.
Hrebenach's six aces are the most for Terp since Brittney Grove had six at Virginia on Nov. 14, 2008.
Knocking Them Down
The Terps totaled a season-high 72 kills against Duke on Sunday. It is tied for the fourth-highest kill total for a Terrapin team since the 2007 season.
Simply Outstanding
Ashleigh Crutcher capped an amazing offensive weekend with a career-high 28 kills against Clemson on Oct. 28. Her 28 kills is the most kills by an ACC player this season and is the most by a Maryland player since Lynnsy Jones had 33 against Florida State on Oct. 12, 2002.
In addition to her 28 kills against the Tigers, Crutcher had 20 kills against Georgia Tech on Oct. 26 becoming the first Terrapin with 20 or more kills in consecutive matches since Maria DiLivio totaled 20 against Clemson on Oct. 31, 2003, and 20 against Georgia Tech on Nov. 1, 2003.
Dynamic Duo
Mary Cushman and Ashleigh Crutcher each tallied 20 kills against Georgia Tech on Oct. 26. They became the first Maryland tandem with 20 or more kills in a match since Jennifer Dewalt and Sarah Treadwell each had 20 kills in an ACC semifinal against Duke on Nov. 20, 2004.
Digging It
Since taking over at libero on Oct. 23 at American, Amy Dion has tallied double-digit digs in all five matches including three matches with 20 or more digs. Sunday against Duke, Dion recorded a personal-best 26, which is the highest single-game total this season for a Terp.
Terrapin Milestones
Against American on Oct. 23, Crutcher reached the 500 kill plateau with 14 kills against the Eagles. Crutcher now has 587 kills for her career.
With 13 kills against Virginia on Sept. 30, Remy McBain eclipsed the 500 kill plateau for her career. McBain currently sits at 575 kills, which is the sixth-highest total for a Terp since 2007.
With 26 assists at Wake Forest on Oct. 6, McBain surpassed the 3,000 assist mark. The Leonia, N.J., native has 3,204 assists over her four years in College Park. She is only the fifth Terp all-time to eclipse 3,000 assists.
Mary Cushman begins the weekend six points shy of 1,000 career points. The junior has 994 career points, which is the third highest total over the last five seasons.
Honored Terps
The Terps wrapped up their pre-conference tournament schedule at LIU Brooklyn on Sept. 14-15. Adreené Elliott came away with the highest honors. The Winston-Salem, N.C., native was voted the MVP of both the Villanova Classic and Blackbird Invitational as well as earning a spot on the Spring Hill Suites at Arundel Mills All-Tournament team.
At the Blackbird Invitational, Elliott tallied 31 kills and 23 total blocks including a career-high eight total blocks against St. John's. Elliott tied the mark with another eight total blocks against LIU Brooklyn the following night.
In three matches at the Spring Hill Suites at Arundel Mills Invitational, Elliott finished with 32 kills and a .419 hitting percentage. In the win over George Washington, Elliott had a career-high .619 hitting percentage.
Elliott took home MVP honors at the Villanova Classic to open the season. In three matches, she tallied 26 kills and 13 total blocks. Elliott finished the weekend with a .353 hitting percentage.
Sarah Harper and Kamrin Gold joined Elliott on the Villanova Classic All-Tournament team. Harper finished with 49 digs, while Gold tallied 18 kills including 11 against Robert Morris.
With 54 kills at the Maryland Invitational, Ashleigh Crutcher earned a spot on the Maryland Invitational All-Tournament team. Crutcher leads the Terps in kills with 158.
Mary Cushman and Gold earned spots on the Blackbird Invitational All-Tournament team. In three matches, Cushman finished with 28 kills, 13 digs and six total blocks. Cushman had a season-high .480 hitting percentage against St. John's. Gold completed the weekend with 25 kills and 16 digs.
Record Watch
Adreené Elliott is currently fifth all-time in career hitting percentage. Elliott is hitting .309 for her career. Rachel Wagener holds the all-time record with a .341 hitting percentage.
For the season, Elliott is converting 36.9 percent of her attack opportunities, which places her fourth all-time. Andrea Mandella holds the all-time single-season record with a .387 hitting percentage which she set in 1989.
On the defensive side of the net, Elliott combined for four solo blocks against Duke and Wake Forest last weekend to pass Jade Brown for seventh all-time. Elliott has 58 career solo blocks and trails Lisa Scott (71) for sixth all-time.
Sarah Harper moved past Maria DiLivio (1,102) into eighth all-time in Maryland history in digs against LIU Brooklyn on Sept. 15. With 1,171 digs, Harper trails Bethany Springer by 33 digs for seventh all-time.
Remy McBain ranks fifth in program history with 3,204 assists. She trails Aimee Huddleston by 366 assists for fourth all-time.
Fresh Faces
The Terps welcomed seven newcomers to the squad this season. The seven-member class was given highest honorable mention honors by PrepVolleyball.com.
So far this season, all seven freshmen have seen action for the Terps, which is the most in the ACC.
Mackenzie Dagostino and Kamrin Gold have been staples in the Terrapin attack. Dagostino is averaging 5.82 assists per set, while Gold is averaging 2.41 kills per set.
Emily Fraik totaled a career-high nine kills at North Carolina on Oct. 19.
Kelsey Hrebenach stuffed a career-high seven attack attempts against Georgia Tech on Oct. 26. The Leesburg, Va., native has tallied a personal-best seven kills twice this season against Duke (Nov. 4) and Clemson (Oct. 28).
Amy Dion has started at libero the past five matches. Dion recorded a personal-best and Maryland season-high 26 digs against Duke on Sunday.
