Moseley Named to All-ACC Freshman Team

Feb. 28, 2012

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland women's basketball freshman point guard Brene Moseley was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference's All-Freshman Team the league announced Tuesday. Moseley is Maryland's 11th All-Freshman honoree in head coach Brenda Frese's 10-year tenure.

Moseley averaged 7.2 points per game and is in the top 15 in the league with her 2.9 assists per contest on the season. She shot .385 from outside the arc for 25 made three-pointers, including 10 in ACC contests.

The Burtonsville, Md. native was named ACC Rookie of the Week on Nov. 21, for her career-high performance vs. Towson earlier that week. She averaged 20.0 points per game in the Terrapins' two wins. Her 26 points vs. Towson were the most for a Maryland freshman since Kristi Toliver scored 28 vs. Utah in the Elite Eight in 2006. On the week, Moseley went 7-for-13 (.538) from outside the arc and dished out nine assists.

Four members of the fifth-ranked Terrapins squad were named to the All-ACC Teams announced Monday. Alyssa Thomas earned First Team honors, while Tianna Hawkins made the Second Team. Lynetta Kizer and Laurin Mincy each earned Honorable Mention honors and Kizer was named the ACC's Sixth Player of the Year.

The Terrapins (25-4, 11-4 ACC) will open play in the 35th Annual ACC Women's Basketball Tournament Friday evening at approximately 8 p.m. as the No. 3 seed. They will play either sixth-seeded Virginia or 11th-seeded Boston College, depending on Thursday's result.

All eight games on Thursday and Friday will be broadcast on the league's regional sports network (RSN), which includes Comcast SportsNet, Fox Sports South, Fox Sports Florida and the New England Sports Network. Friday's contest can be seen locally on Comcast SportsNet +. The entire tournament can also be seen on ESPN3.
