COLLEGE PARK, MD. -
The past and future of the Maryland men's lacrosse program will be on display this Saturday during two of the sports premiere events.
Four former Terps, two on the Young Guns and two on the Old School team, will be playing in the 2012 Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game, which will take place on June 30 at FAU Stadium in Palm Beach County, Fla.
Jeremy Sieverts, a 2009 Maryland graduate who has enjoyed a storybook resurgence with the Denver Outlaws, and Brian Farrell, a 2011 Terrapin grad who helped the Boston Cannons to the 2011 MLL championship, are on the Young Guns squad.
Joe Walters, a four-time All-American as a Terp, is making his fifth MLL All-Star appearance and second for the Hamilton Nationals. He is joined on the Old School team by 2004 grad Lee Zink of the Outlaws, who is also making his fifth MLL All-Star roster.
Three incoming Terps are also set for action on Saturday at the seventh annual Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic on Saturday, June 30, at Towson's Unitas Stadium.
Playing for the North team will be midfielder Tommy Forsberg, while the South team will have defender Ryan Lehman and attackman Bradlee Lord.
Forsberg totaled 77 points on 45 goals and 32 assists for Coach Kevin Lavey at John Glenn High School this past season, helping lead the Knights to a Suffolk County title while earning MVP honors.
Lehman played for Terrapin legend Frank Urso at Garnet Valley High School and finished the season with 62 groundballs, six assists and one goal. The Glen Mills, Pa., native is a two-time all-state selection and earned all-county and all-league honors three times each.
Lord finished with 77 points on 40 goals and 37 assists to help lead Conestoga to a 23-3 record and a Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association title, scoring two goals and adding four assists in the 10-7 win over LaSalle in the championship game. The Devon, Pa., native is a two-time first team All-PIAA selection.
