COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The season premiere of Inside Maryland Football, a reality series that gives a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of the Maryland football program, airs Monday at 9:30 p.m. on Comcast SportsNet.
In addition to tonight's episode, Comcast SportsNet will air episode two of the series on Monday, Aug. 27 at 9:30 p.m. Starting in September, new episodes will air every Saturday at 11 a.m.
The 30-minute show gives a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of a major college football program. Replays of the show will be available on TerpsTV each Wednesday.
Each episode of the series, a partnership between Maryland Athletics, Comcast SportsNet and 3Penny Films, features in-depth player and coach profiles, as well as footage of off-season workouts and preseason practice.
A production crew, led by former University of Maryland and Washington Redskins place-kicker Jess Atkinson, has been following the team both on and off the field.
Maryland, under the direction of head coach Randy Edsall, is set to open the season on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 3 p.m. against William & Mary in Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium. The Terps will look to 41 returning letterwinners, including 15 offensive and defensive starters, to carry them through the season.
Joe Vellano, Kenny Tate and Demetrius Hartsfield highlight the 10 starters returning on the defensive side of the ball. Vellano was a 2011 second team All-American after leading all Football Bowl Subdivision linemen with 7.8 tackles per game, Tate is looking to return to his 2010 All-ACC form after an injury-shortened 2011, and Hartsfield is the ACC's active career leader in tackles (260).
