Maryland had 21 former players on active NFL rosters during the third week of the regular season, with several making significant contributions.
Below are short summaries for those that saw action in week three, followed by a complete list of current Terps on active NFL rosters.
Lance Ball -RB- Denver Broncos
Fifth-year running back Lance Ball recorded 16 rushing yards and 2 receiving yards in Denver's 31-25 loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday.
Nolan Carroll -DB- Miami Dolphins
Third-year cornerback Nolan Carroll had two solo tackles in Miami's 23-20 overtime loss to the Jets in week three.
Jon Condo -LS- Oakland Raiders
Seventh-year long snapper Jon Condo helped Oakland's special teams unit record two fourth quarter field goals in a 34-31 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Condo put the ball in play for Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski to bury a 43-yard attempt as time expired.
Vernon Davis -TE- San Francisco 49ers
Vernon Davis caught five passes for 53 yards and San Francisco's only touchdown in the 49ers' 24-13 loss against the Vikings in week three.
Moise Fokou -LB- Indianapolis Colts
Fourth-year linebacker Moise Fokou recorded four tackles in the Indianapolis Colts' 22-17 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Erin Henderson -LB- Minnesota Vikings
Five-year veteran Erin Henderson did not play in his Minnesota's 24-13 victory over the 49ers after suffering a concussion last week.
Darrius Heyward-Bey -WR- Oakland Raiders
Fourth-year receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey had two catches for 14 yards and a touchdown in Oakland's 34-31 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in week three. Heyward-Bey suffered a neck injury early in the 4th quarter after attempting to catch a pass over the middle and receiving a violent blow from two Steelers' defenders. Heyward-Bey was released from the hospital on Monday and is expected to make a full recovery.
Shaun Hill -QB- Detroit Lions
Shaun Hill went 10 for 13 for 172 yards and two touchdowns in the Detroit Lions 44-41 overtime loss to the Tennessee Titans. Hill replaced an injured Matthew Stafford in the fourth quarter, and led the Lions on two touchdown drives in less than 2:00. He connected with receiver Titus Young for a 46-yard `Hail Mary' as time expired to force overtime.
Adam Podlesh -P- Chicago Bears
Six-year veteran Adam Podlesh booted four punts for 165 yards, and helped position the Bears for a 23-6 victory over the St. Louis Rams.
Da'Rel Scott -RB- New York Giants
Second-year running back Da'Rel Scott had six carries for nine yards in New York's 36-7 victory over the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night.
D'Qwell Jackson -LB- Cleveland Browns
Seven-year veteran D'Qwell Jackson had six tackles, including two solo stops as Cleveland fell 24-14 to the Buffalo Bills.
Torrey Smith -WR- Baltimore Ravens
Second-year receiver Torrey Smith put on an inspirational performance in Baltimore's 31-30 win over the New England Patriots Sunday night. Less than 24 hours prior, Smith's younger brother Tevin was killed in a motorcycle accident near his home in Northern Virginia. Smith elected to play in the game only hours before kickoff, and recorded six receptions for 127 yards and two touchdowns. Smith helped position the Ravens for victory by grabbing a 5-yard touchdown pass with 4:01 left to play in the fourth quarter. Smith and his family have set up a scholarship fund in memory of Tevin. Randy Starks -DL- Miami Dolphins
Nine-year veteran Randy Starks had three stops for the Dolphins on Sunday, including a tackle for loss as Miami fell 23-20 to the New York Jets in overtime.
Madieu Williams -DB- Washington Redskins
Ninth-year linebacker Madieu Williams finished with six tackles including two solo stops and a tackle for loss in a 38-31 loss against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Josh Wilson -DB- Washington Redskins
Six-year veteran Josh Wilson had four solo tackles in the Redskins' 38-31 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
