
#10 Terrapins Welcome Wolfpack Thursday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The 10th-ranked Maryland women's basketball team will welcome ACC foe North Carolina State to Comcast Center Thursday for an 8:30 p.m. tipoff.
The Terps-Wolfpack matchup will be televised on RSN and can be seen on Comcast SportsNet Plus locally, Fox Sports South, Sun Sports, Fox Sports Florida, NESN and more. Thursday's game will be Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night and all campus faculty and staff members can claim up to four free tickets to the game by calling the Terrapin Ticket Office at 1-800-IM-A-TERP prior to game day.
The Terrapins (13-3, 4-1 ACC) are coming off of a decisive 74-45 victory at Virginia Tech over the weekend. Alyssa Thomas led with 26 points, a career-high 18 rebounds, six assists and three blocks. Tianna Hawkins added 14 points and Katie Rutan and freshman Tierney Pfirman each added 11.
Thomas was named ACC and ESPNW National Player of the Week Monday. The reigning ACC Player of the Year averaged 22 points and 13 rebounds in the Terps' two wins last week.
The Wolfpack (8-9, 0-5) has lost four straight games heading into Thursday's matchup. Most recently, it fell 78-59 at Virginia Sunday. In their last meeting, the Terrapins won at NC State 65-50 behind 24 points and 17 rebounds from Thomas. She rattled off 16 straight points in the second half for the win.
Thomas is currently leading the ACC in rebounding with 10.6 per game and is second in scoring (16.1 points per game), but only to Hawkins (18.6 points per game). Hawkins is second in the league in rebounding with 9.8 boards per contest. Thomas is also fourth in the league in assists with 5.3 per game.
Next, Maryland will hit the road to take on Georgia Tech (8-8, 1-4) Sunday at 3 p.m. in Atlanta. The Terps-Yellow Jackets game will be shown live on ESPN2 and ESPN3.com in some areas. They last met in the 2012 ACC Championship game, with the Terrapins winning 68-65.
