#7 Maryland Battles at Virginia Sunday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The seventh-ranked Maryland women's basketball team will take on border rival Virginia Sunday at 5 p.m. in a Play 4 Kay Pink Game in Charlottesville.
The Terps-Cavaliers game will be shown on ESPN2 in Maryland and Virginia and nationally in whip-around coverage. It can also be seen nationally on ESPN3.com.
Maryland (20-4, 11-2 ACC) has won 10 of its last 11 games and trounced Clemson, 75-45, Thursday in College Park. Tianna Hawkins and Alyssa Thomas combined for 47 points and 20 rebounds to help the Terrapins clinch their ninth-straight 20-win season.
Virginia (15-9, 7-6) has dropped three of its last four outings, most recently a 61-49 loss as Boston College Thursday.
Maryland won their meeting, 79-55, on Dec. 6 in College Park. Hawkins and Thomas each scored 20 points and freshman Tierney Pfirman added 17.
Hawkins moved closer to the 1,000-rebound mark. She currently has 992 in her career. Crystal Langhorne and Marissa Coleman are the only Terrapins ever to reach the 1,000-rebound plateau. Just one men's player, Len Elmore, has reached the 1,000-rebound mark.
The Terrapins are No. 2 in the country in rebounding with their margin of +15.8, which is second only to Liberty's +17.4. Hawkins and Thomas are Nos. 1 and 2 in the ACC in scoring and rebounding. Hawkins leads the league in scoring with 19.5 points per game and Thomas is just behind her with 17.0. Thomas is the league's top rebounder with 10.3 boards per contest and Hawkins is No. 2 with 9.9 per game. Thomas is also second in assists per game with 5.4. Alicia DeVaughn and Hawkins are Nos. 1 and 2 in FG percentage.
Next, the Terrapins will trek to Boston College (10-14, 4-9) for a 7 p.m. matchup Thursday night. The game will be broadcast on the Terrapin Sports Radio Network and can be heard on 1300 AM and 570 AM, as well as UMTerps.com for a fee.
After Thursday's game, Maryland will return home to host a rematch with No. 5 Duke (23-1, 13-0) on Sunday, Feb. 24 at 3 p.m. in Comcast Center.
