Thomas, Hawkins Make All-Tournament Team

March 10, 2013

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Two-time ACC Player of the Year Alyssa Thomas and All-ACC First Team honoree Tianna Hawkins were named to the All-ACC Tournament Team Sunday. Thomas was named to the First Team and Hawkins made the Second Team, both for the second straight year.

Thomas averaged 29.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 8.5 assists in the Terps' tournament run. She notched the first triple-double in tournament history in Friday's win over Wake Forest with a career-high 32 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. She is the only player in Maryland history, male or female, to record two career triple-doubles.

She was named ACC Player of the Year for the second straight season this week and is the only Terrapin history to earn the honor twice.

Hawkins averaged 15.5 points and 11.0 rebounds in Maryland's ACC Tournament games. She led the league in scoring all season long with 18.5 points per game and was second in rebounding with 9.4 per contest.

No. 10 Maryland (24-7, 14-4 ACC) was edged 72-65 by third-seeded North Carolina in the ACC Semifinals Saturday. The Terrapins led until there was 5:40 to play, but Carolina went on a roll to take the win.

Next, the Terrapins will await their NCAA Tournament fate. The NCAA Selection Show will be Monday, March 18 at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
