As a Sophomore (2002): One of only two Terps to play in all 57 games, and
was in the starting lineup for 56 contests ... had a team-high 229 atbats
and finished third on the squad among regulars in hitting at
.362 ... enjoyed a breakout offensive campaign in batting average
(.362), slugging percentage (.533), runs (53), hits (83), at bats
(229), RBI (43), doubles (20), triples (2), home runs (5) and
walks (18) ... got off to a strong start, going 3-for-4 and
scoring once on opening day vs. James Madison (Feb.
15) ... doubled twice and scored twice en route to a
3-for-5 showing at College of Charleston (Feb. 23) ...
went 3-for-6 including two doubles and a triple in the
nightcap of a doubleheader vs. Pace (March 1) ... connected
on first career homer at Shipley Field and finished game with career and team season high six
RBI vs. Vermont (March 8) ... had productive offensive day, going 3-for-4 including a double,
two runs, three RBI and a stolen base in a win over UMBC (March 21) ... against top-ranked
Clemson, finished 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI (March 29) ... had a monster day at the plate,
slugging a pair of home runs, including a walk-off shot, while driving in three and scoring
three in an upset victory over nationally-ranked Georgia Tech (April 13) ... in a two-game span
from April 17-19, went 6-for-8 with two runs and a double ... had three RBI including the gamewinner
during a 3-for-5 performance vs. NC State (May 3)... named to 2002 Verizon Academic
All-America Team's District II Second Team.
As a Freshman (2001): Gained valuable experience as a freshman as he played in 47 games,
including 40 starts ... hit .244 for the season with a .259 mark in ACC play ... owned one of
the team's best averages vs. left-handed pitchers at .364 ... was a clutch performer as evidenced
by his .340 batting average with runners in scoring position ... sixth on the club with
12 multi-hit games ... tallied his first career hit with a double at Elon (Feb. 11) ... went 0-for-
2 with a run scored vs. West Virginia at The Citadel Invitational (Feb. 18) ... recorded his first
multi-hit game vs. Georgetown (March 7) by going 2-for-2 with a run scored ... 1-for-5 with a
two-run double vs. Coppin State (March 14) ... 2-for-2 with a run scored and a RBI vs. Clemson
(March 17) ... 2-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI at Georgia Tech (March 25) ... scored twice
and went 2-for-4 with a RBI and a stolen base in a 11-9 victory over George Washington
(March 28) ... 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a walk at Duke (March 30) ... had two hits and scored
two runs vs. UMBC (April 3) ... performed well against North Carolina with his .364 average to
help lead the Terps to the series win ... drilled a career-high three hits and went 3-for-5 with
